1990s Fountaine Pajot Venezia
The Fountaine Pajot Venezia is a 42 foot french built catamaran. It has a single extrusion aluminum mast, and a tripod rig, with a single set of diamonds and a jumper.
Spar
The mast is aluminum extrusion, about 57’ from heel to masthead. It is deck stepped on an aluminum step forward of the cabin. The cap is secured with 4 90° stainless bolts, passing through the extrusion, then up out the mast cap. There are two internal conduits, offset from center on the forward face of the mast.
Standing Rig
All standing rigging is 1x19 stainless steel wire.
The upper shrouds pin to aluminum tangs aloft, with toggles and 16mm pins. The lower end is swaged to a 3/4” stud, with turnbuckle and 16mm pin toggle. The length is approximately 49’4” pin to pin. The wire is 12mm
The Diamond shrouds attatch aloft to aluminum tangs with toggles and 16mm pins. The wire runs out to the spreader tips and down to the lower part of the mast. The lower end is swaged to a 3/4” stud, with turnbuckle and 16mm pin toggle. The wire is 12mm diamter, with an approximate length of 43’ 2” pin to pin.
The jumper stay attaches aloft to an aluminum tang, runs through the forward strut, and back down to the lower part of the mast, the bottom is swaged to a 3/4” stud, with a turnbuckle and a threaded stemball in a shellback tang. The wire is 10mm, with an approximate length of 38’ 5” pin to pin.
Additional notes
Inspect tops of tangs, all of these were cracked where they were pulling down away from the mast. Look for wallowing in the forestay tang and bushing.
